Stony Plain is a community a few kilometres west of Edmonton, the capital of the province of Alberta, Canada.
Lighthouse Church in Stony Plain is a Pentecostal church whose heart is to reach the people in and around Edmonton and Stony Plain with the Good News of the healing power that is only found in Jesus Christ.
Pastor Victor was invited by Pastor Archie Binnie to minister at Lighthouse Church 16-22 September 2005.
On Saturday Evening Pastor Vicor began his teaching by asking a key question.
What does it take to change a nation?
Pastor Victor then read from Luke 4:32-35.
Apparently some of the most famous evangelists of the past several generations came to Canada, and some even began their ministry here. Yet most of them passed on and based their ministry in other countries.
He then asked "When will Canada come to the point where they will desire to hold on to the spiritual power and the other things God has wanted to pour out over Canada?"
It takes God to give you something, but it is you who need to receive, keep and use that which God has given you.
God gave these evangelists and other ministers to Canada, but Canada did not receive, keep, and make use of them, so they moved on.
The problem is that we are trying to force God to do something that we are supposed to be doing.
God gives the Holy Spirit. We receive, keep and use Him.
God does not answer the prayer, "God, change Canada."
God gives the anointing, but we are the ones that change it as we receive, keep and make use of the anointing by doing the things that God directs us to do.
Many times we receive a word from God but we do not make use of it.
Acts 3:6 is an example of how the apostles made use of what they had received.
Pastor Victor then asked, "What have you received?", and then, "What have you done with it?"
Many Christians write things in journals and then never read them again, let alone make use of it.
An example is "giving money." The money in your pocket is yours. You can choose to take it out of your pocket and give it. God does not do this because it is no longer His money.
And the more you give, the easier it will be to do this.
It is amazing that the Holy Spirit was poured out in the Upper Room rather than the synagogue.
The Holy Spirit is not given to the Church. It is given to the people and shows up where the people are.
If you use the Holy Spirit in the church you are using it in the wrong place. This is why many church breakdowns happen as people decide when and where to prophesy and so on.
We are having a difficult time because we want to bring people to church in order to serve them, but Jesus Christ only taught in the synagogue.
(Even in Matthew 12:9 Jesus healed the man with a withered hand as a teaching tool and then He healed the multitude after He left.)
God will not back up or support something that is not in the Bible.
The anointing of God, and the signs and wonders are not for the Church. Jesus told us to go to the world to preach the Gospel.
People will want to come to church if they have already seen God at work. People will resist only if they have had nothing of the power of God revealed to them.
The question, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" (John 1:46) is still being asked today.
"Can any good thing come out of the Church?"
But Jesus used what He received from God and Nathaniel confessed Jesus as the Son of God (John 1:49).
The Holy Spirit is not your servant.
Jesus prayed and Jesus went. This is our example.
Pastor Victor then used a young person who had accepted JC as an example and asked him "What are you doing with this?"
If he were to do nothing, then it is easy for this person to be led astray.
Pastor Victor asked, "How many people have you led to the Lord?" Remember that if you do not use your mandate to change your friends by leading them to Christ, then your friends will use their mandate to lead you astray.
The devil was the anointed cherub, so he always looks for those who God has anointed so that he can lead the anointed ones astray.
During ministry time Pastor Victor reminded people that the way you receive from God is the way you will minister what you have received.
If you strive with God, then that spirit will be in you while you minister to God.
On the other hand, if you receive from God in gentleness and humility, then that is how you will minister to others as well.
We want to say thanks to all those who are praying for us.
And in all we thank our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for doing such mighty work through us.
