Yellowknife report

Report date: 17th of August 2002

After eight exciting days of ministry in Hay River, Fort Resolution and Fort Providence, My husband Paul our son Matthew and I joined Evangelist Victor Emenike, and the other members of the ministry team, Bill and Carol Leynard in Yellowknife. I was part of the team that went last August and was eager to see all God would do this August, and I was not disappointed!

We were able to be a part of two evening and two daytime meetings in the Vineyard church. The first day Paul and Carol were able to meet a worship leader from Saskatoon named Jean. They had a great time worshipping and praising with our Glad Tidings church friends and our new Pinehouse Lake friends. On Saturday night, the praise time was so powerful; we all fell into spontaneous worship that had a distinctly aboriginal feel. This praise time became so loud and intense, I was sure we would see the glory cloud come down. It didn't, however is a special memory for me all the same.

In total, 15 people came to Christ in these meetings (one woman from Inuvik). There were also many healings and restorations:

The woman from Inuvik had a bad hip, her short leg grew out, and the pain disappeared. She went up and down the long staircase to prove her healing and no longer needs her cane.

One young man came forward wanting to dispose of his demons (including alcohol). He was lead to Christ and baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Brother Victor told another woman with shoulder pain to punch his hand until the pain left. A man with shoulder pain received healing and has been sent on a divine quest for a wife!. A second man with shoulder pain was fully restored.

Jean (from Saskatoon) asked for prayer for her dying father (he broke his hip). Brother Victor prayed and Jean will contact him to see how he is doing.

  • Three women were delivered from nicotine addiction.
  • Seven women with diabetes were healed.
  • Six people came forward with deaf ears and their hearing was restored. Of the five three had been hearing impaired for over 30 years.
  • One woman was delivered from drugs, alcohol, and accepted Christ; her son was then saved and prayed for peace in their family.

One of my favorite testimonies is from a man with bone cancer. He had come to Yellowknife for surgery Friday, when they discovered his cancer was too complex and they we sending him to a hospital in Edmonton on Sunday. He and his wife did not know the Lord but responded when a stranger invited them to the meetings. He accepted Christ, and all his pain left once he was prayed for. Evangelist Victor told him to have the doctors recheck his leg before they perform any surgery. His changed countenance was a blessing, and he left with confidence in God and his own health.

One young woman came forward to ask for healing for her mom's deafness. They phoned the mom in Ontario (approx. 3:00AM Ontario time). She was healed over the phone.

A woman, who became insane after her father died 8 years ago, came forward, accepted Christ, was baptized with the Holy Spirit, and was water baptized later that day. She has her life and mind back. This woman's mother then came forward; she had not been able to sing since her husband's funeral. Brother Victor prayed for her, and we all joined in as she belted out "Amazing Grace".

Three elderly, aboriginal women came up for healing. One was freed from back and knee pain. Her friend came up and received healing from a sore arm and high blood pressure. The third woman was instantly healed of deafness in her right ear.

One woman was freed from anxiety and fear and recommitted her life to Christ.

A teen was released from a spiritual "cage", that he felt in bondage in. Several people then stood up to support him financially and spiritually as he grows in Christ. Evangelist Victor confirmed he has a strong call on his life to preach.

A missionary family, who just returned from a disappointing trip to Nepal, was prophesied over, we then took up an offering for them. They will be returning to Nepal with a strong healing ministry.

Our son Matthew broke his glasses on this trip, so he came forward and prayed for healing for his eyesight. Although, it is not yet fully restored, it does improve daily. Praise the Lord.

A man, whose wife died May 3, had a beautiful time of restoration Sunday afternoon. God really held him and Evangelist Victor had all the men come forward to pray strength and healing into his wounded heart.

The mother of a woman assaulted by a prominent man's son, came forward to forgive the man. Several women prayed with her for strength and for her unsaved daughter's well-being and salvation. The Holy Spirit really ministered to this mother as we prayed. Having had to forgive the man who murdered my sister, this prayer time was especially near and dear to my heart.

Lessons

One thing we all really learned from this trip is the importance of follow-up. We are all part of the same Body of Christ. All believers, young and old, need to have someone contact them, support them, encourage them, and love them. Anyone left without that love and attention is an easy target for the enemy. We learned not to expect "someone else" will do it, if God puts a burden on your heart for another, or even puts them in your path, talk to them, and exhort them. We need to build each other up so we can effectively reach out to our lost and hurting world and bring them to Christ.

The number of people who "stumbled " into the meetings, because the "something" (the Holy Spirit), told them to come, was staggering and humbling. There are not enough workers out there to reach everyone. I have come home with a new purpose and vision; I need to bring the lost to Christ. Yes, the Holy Spirit can and does work without human help, but I strongly feel He wants me and all of us to do more for Him here and now.

Matthew 9:37 "The harvest is truly plentiful, but the labourers are few."

Matthew 28:19,20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

In Christ,

Gayleen Reese

We want to say thanks to all those who are praying for us.

And in all we thank our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for doing such mighty work through us.
